Day 3 - Beaugency to Amboise. After breakfast, we set out to visit the amazing chateau of Chambord. This is one of France's most grand chateaus, and we are free to explore it top to bottom. As we leave through the forest, we are quickly back to the river and on our way to Amboise, passing through the medieval town of Blois on the way. Our accommodation for tonight and tomorrow night is an elegant manor house decorated in the Louis XIV tradition, just outside of Amboise. Be sure to enjoy the pool, and visit the 15,000 bottle wine cellar. Dinner tonight is an elegant French meal prepared by the manor's own chef.
Day 4 - Amboise. Today we tour 2 chateaus. Amboise and Chenonceaux. A short 10 mile ride to Cenonceaux takes us through the vineyards of Touraine. Chenonceaux, a glorious chateau, actually straddles the river Cher. This position of the chateau along with the elegant French formal gardens makes this an unforgettable moment. Bring lots of film! In the afternoon, we can visit the chateau at Amboise. It's within walking distance from our hotel. Another beautiful chateau directly on the Loire River.
Day 5 - Amboise to Azay le Rideau. Our morning ride takes us over to the Indre River where we will follow it all the way to Azay le Rideau. This is the perfect French countryside bicycle ride. It just doesn't get any better! If time allows, we can visit the chateau at Azay le Rideau, in the afternoon, or simply stroll through the quaint little village and enjoy the ambience.
Day 6 - Azay le Rideau to Saumur. More chateaus!! Today we visit the chateau at Rigny-Usse, and then it's on to the chateau at Chinon. After we explore them to our hearts content, we head off to Saumur. Along the way stopping to see some of the prehistoric cave dwellings along the way, and possibly a wine tasting in an underground grotto. Very unique!
Day 7 - We will gladly take you to the train station for your journey back to Paris, after breakfast. We hope you have enjoyed this amazing week of world class food, wine, and French culture. You are now an expert on the 'Pays de Loire'.
